You will have heard the phrase, ‘If walls could talk’. Well, guess what, they can! Think of it like this… All of us can remember a situation that was really unpleasant in our past. Unless we work hard on ourselves, we are likely to replay that situation over and over again in our heads and it will affect how we respond in some situations and towards some people. We can also remember happy events that make us smile and affect our mood.
I believe that physical properties are similar in that they store the memories of past situations. In fact, it’s surprising how many properties have witnessed very similar incidents, and even the same names keep cropping up.
My space clearing work offers me a unique insight into the history of properties and their past occupants. The spiritual beings I bump into along the way are always intriguing. Some want to talk, some don’t realise that they’re dead, some have unfinished business and some just pop in to send love to family and friends.
On the other hand, some others are malevolent and want to cause trouble. These can quickly be neutralised and moved on. They may resist but, given the army of angels and guides who work through me, they have no choice but to leave, moving ‘to the light’ where the soul is able to continue its development.
All these spirits offer so much by coming forward and giving great insights into the past. I am truly grateful to each of them, even the nasty ones!
I have had the privilege of space clearing a large number of properties and the histories they share and the spirits I’ve met along the way have been truly amazing. Buildings have revealed to me what they used to look like, many of the significant events that have taken place there, and secrets that some owners would not want to become public knowledge. In this book I shall share all this with you.
I was once sent to supervise the viewing of a garden flat. Perhaps I should have had my suspicions when I was told to go early and take a large can of air freshener with me! This property, though, was on one of the better roads in the area, a quiet residential street lined with beautiful trees. It was a Victorian purpose-built maisonette with its own front door, and the front garden had been well cared for.
As soon as I entered it was clear that this had been a much-loved home. Yes, the smell was bad but the place was welcoming and warm. Then, when I opened the bedroom door, I was hit by an overwhelming feeling of confusion and loneliness. All the furniture had been removed here, although not in the rest of the property, but as I stood in the doorway I could see how it had looked just a few short months before. By now I was used to seeing things that others couldn’t but this was rather different…
A double bed was in front of me and in it was an elderly and frail woman. All her personal belongings were laid out on the bedside table – there was jewellery, a book, and even a cup that the lady had been drinking from. It took a few moments to adjust to this scene in front of me before I suddenly remembered that I only had five minutes until the viewer arrived. I opened the windows.
The old lady was of course in spirit form and it became clear to me that she was unaware that she had died. That was the feeling of confusion I had been picking up; she had passed away in her sleep and had no idea that it was time to leave her beautiful home. Gathering my wits, and taking a deep breath, I gently explained to the lady that it was time for her to move on.
The room then filled with the scent of lavender and her spirit was free. It was as much a surprise to me as probably it was to her that, simply by my entering the room and recognising the situation, she could finally take the next step of her soul’s journey. It was a beautiful, calming and emotional experience, I am so grateful I was able to help her.
With the spiritual problem solved, I set to work fast, opening every window and door and using the air freshener I had been armed with. As I worked, again instinctively I set the intention for the property to be a happy and comfortable home once more.
The viewers bought the property.
